Behaviour Contingency Map

$60.00

Behaviour Contingency Mapping is a tool that highlights choices and expectations for kids. Individual choices are made clear alongside the outcomes associated with their choice.

This tool supports children to:

✅ Understand the impact of their choices

✅ Understand the consequences or outcomes of their choices

✅ Promote positive behaviour through positive choice making

✅ Empower kids to take ownership over their reactions to common situations.

➡️ How do you use behavior maps?

  1. Choose a purple SITUATION card for common everyday situation that require a choice to be made from the child.

  2. Review the behaviour paths for both POSITIVE CHOICES AND NEGATIVE CHOICES and let the child know they are able to choose for themselves there response to a situation.

  3. Then show the child the likely POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE OUTCOMES based on their choice.

  4. Go through each path and model the choices and corresponding outcomes.

Utilise the behaviour map before a situation that a typical negative behaviour is most commonly anticipated to prevent the behaviour and give children ownership over their bodies and choices.

Tip: Using visual contingency maps to promote positive behaviour along with verbal cues will help overtime sustain the positive behaviour even without the pictures!
